Please shoot me if you ever see the word "flywheel" in my website copy but... I'll admit it does convey meaning. If you checked out GitLab's latest investor presentation, you would have seen this slide which caught my attention:

This is a great visual of how open core can be done right. Open source is a business model – it's not just some bolt-on "benefit" you pay lip service to.

Here's the thing...

It's a dual flywheel. Unless you want to be stuck operating your own company's flywheel, make sure contributors can onboard themselves (GitLab is a model citizen).
